Damoh– Ganga Jamna School in Damoh, Madhya Pradesh, faces the consequences of its controversial practice of making Hindu students wear hijabs. The municipality notified the school, demanding a response within three days. If the reply fails to satisfy the authorities, the municipality can take necessary action, including demolishing the structure. The issue gained significant attention, prompting the state’s Home Minister, Narottam Mishra, to express his determination to crack down on activities promoting division and unlawful practices. Mishra emphasised that those engaging in such acts and the mafia will face severe consequences, affirming that investigations are progressing in the right direction.
The controversy surrounding Ganga Jamna School arose two weeks ago when a banner displaying pictures of successful female students, including Hindu students wearing hijabs, sparked outrage. The incident shed light on alleged conversion activities within the school premises. As a result, the Damoh Municipality’s Chief Medical Officer notified Rashke Jahan, the wife of a school management member named Rashid Khan, who has been evading authorities since the case was registered.
The notice issued to Ganga Jamna Higher Secondary School addresses the unauthorised construction on the premises. The Municipal Council of Damoh’s surveyor branch discovered that building construction was underway without the municipality’s approval. This violation falls under Section 187 of the Madhya Pradesh Municipalities Act 1961. The school has been instructed to halt construction immediately unless valid permits or permissions are provided within three days. Please comply to avoid the municipality taking necessary action to remove the construction following the law.
