BHOPAL: Madhya Pradesh grills as temperatures soar above normal owing to the heat wave from Rajasthan and Gujarat. The IMD in its forecast has predicted isolated heatwaves in western MP on Saturday and Sunday.
Ratlam recorded the highest temperature at 45.5 degrees and has been the hottest in the state for the last 9 days. It was the second hottest city in the country on Friday after Barmer in Rajasthan on Friday according to IMD. From 36.2 degrees on May 4th Ratlam recorded a rise in temperature to 45.5 degrees on May 12th.
The temperature in MP rose above 41 degrees for the third consecutive day. The temperature in Bhopal-Indore is 41 degrees, whereas in Gwalior and Jabalpur, it is 42 and 40 degrees respectively.
According to the Regional Met department, Ratlam, Dhar, and Shajapur will witness severe heat waves. IMD Bhopal director in a media interaction stated that the heat wave was expected to be 20 percent above the normal in the state.
“Presently summer is setting and higher temperatures in Gujarat and Rajasthan were shooting up in west MP. Cyclone Mocha will also influence the weather in MP as north-westerlies will bring more dry and hot weather,” he added.
