Mandla: In a shocking revelation, employees and middlemen were extorting money from needy people in exchange for blood in the blood bank running in Mandla District Hospital of Madhya Pradesh. The health department has taken serious action on this and has terminated the services of three people. Show cause notices have been issued to eleven people.
In fact, the truth of this illegal business came out when the father, who was struggling to save his child’s life, made a written complaint to the Kotwali police station and the CMHO. In which the father alleged that he was being asked to pay Rs 3,400 in exchange for blood. After the matter came to light, the Health Department CMHO has taken the complaint seriously and started investigating the matter.
Initial investigations have revealed that the staff and middlemen at the blood bank were forcing people to bring blood donors from outside even when blood was available.
Bhool Singh said that he was going to the blood bank with a red slip when he received a call from a mobile number. He was told that he will provide blood for which he will have to pay Rs 3400. Bhool Singh paid the money and got the blood. When he needed blood for the second time, he was asked for money again, after which he complained.
This whole matter is exposing the reality of health services being run in Mandla district. Important and essential services have been taken over by middlemen. CMHO said that the blood bank is being run by Surya Charitable Trust Mumbai. Action has been taken against the employees employed by it. While show cause notices have been issued to eleven people.
However, this is not the first incident of extorting money from people in the blood bank. Such cases have come to light even before this. The cameras installed around and inside the blood bank are completely closed. This is being exploited. The civil surgeon himself admits that the cameras installed here are not working. They are being repaired.
