Ujjain– To ensure the safety of kanwariyas, significant measures have been implemented by the administration during the month of Shravan. Many devotees partake in the Kanwar Yatra, journeying to Omkareshwar in the Khandwa district of Madhya Pradesh and the shrine of Baba Mahakal in Ujjain. However, due to the presence of heavy vehicles on the Indore-Ichhapur National Highway, traffic congestion poses a potential risk for accidents as a result. The authorities have decided to restrict the entrance of large vehicles on this particular highway. Starting from 6:00 am to 10:00 pm. Beginning on July 10 and continuing until August 28.
Khandwa’s Assistant District Magistrate, Kashiram Badole, emphasized the strict enforcement of the designated time limit to ensure the safety of devotees and kanwariyas traveling to Omkareshwar. Additionally, the temple is anticipated to witness a substantial influx of worshippers on Saturdays, Sundays, and Mondays throughout Sawan. Consequently, the practice of VIP darshan, where specific individuals were granted special access, has been suspended during this period. Instead, all visitors, regardless of status, must partake in the daily darshan with the general public.
These preventive measures demonstrate the administration’s commitment to prioritizing the well-being and security of devotees during this significant religious observance. Limiting heavy vehicle traffic and discontinuing VIP privileges, the authorities aim to mitigate potential risks and ensure a smooth and safe Kanwar Yatra experience for all participants.
