Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh: President Draupadi Murmu is currently on a two-day stay in Madhya Pradesh that started yesterday. She reached Bhopal at 6 in the evening after participating in the state-level Tribal Pride Day program organized in Shahdol on Tuesday. She participated in the conference of women’s self-help groups of Madhya Pradesh State Rural Livelihood Mission in Bhopal today.
In her address, President Murmu said, “I was told that 42 lakh women are watching this programme, I salute them.” The President also said that daughters are going ahead of sons in the society. “If a woman is educated then the family is educated and the whole society is educated. Both men and women have to be educated and empowered only then the country will develop. All women inspire each other, help, and move forward together”, she added further.
At around 11.15 am, the President reached the venue of the Motilal Nehru Stadium, located on the Lal Parade Ground. Governor Mangubhai Patel, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Union Tribal Affairs Minister Arjun Munda, besides Bhopal district in-charge Bhupendra Singh, Panchayat and Rural Development Minister Mahendra Singh Sisodia, Minister of State for Panchayat and Rural Development Ramkhelavan Patel and Bhopal Mayor Malti Rai were present in the conference.
During the program, CM Shivraj said in his address that 40 lakh sisters of Madhya Pradesh have decided that they will not remain poor. He formed self-help groups through Livelihood Mission. Now the women of the group manufacture soaps, clothes, sanitizers, and jewelry. They also make different products of fruits and vegetables. “Self-help group sisters are becoming self-reliant by breaking the chains of poverty”, said the MP CM.
Praising the president, the Chief Minister further added, “President Draupadi Murmu is the ideal for us, the symbol of women empowerment. She has proved that women are strong. Murmu contested the election to become a councilor, became MLA, then became Governor, and now she is the President.” The two-day visit comes to an end today.
