Bhopal: Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has issued strict instructions to eliminate illegal hookah lounge and other drug businesses running across the state. In a meeting with DGP Sudhir Saxena, CM Chouhan said that hookah lounge has been completely closed in the states including those in Bhopal, Indore, and Gwalior.
After the actions taken in this campaign, the CM congratulated the officers involved in the meeting as all festivals in the past month were completed smoothly. He further issued instructions for drug-free campaign in all districts. Under the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 189 cases have been made and 200 accused have been arrested. 2589 cases have been registered against illegal liquor, wherein 2586 accused have been caught.
Currently, the police department is running 442 awareness programs and has decided to strike at roots for the illegal trade of drugs. Effective action has been started at many places. 2486 places have been checked for illegal drinking and 1672 places were checked for illegal drug addicts.
