Bhopal– A tragic end met the two-and-a-half-year-old girl who fell into a 300-foot borewell in Sehore, Madhya Pradesh, after a 55-hour rescue operation. She was successfully brought out.

But despite the valiant efforts of medical and rescue teams. She did not survive. The little girl’s body was immediately taken to a nearby hospital but was declared dead upon arrival.

The collector of Sehore expressed his profound sadness saying, “Despite our best attempts we could not save her.” An autopsy conducted by two doctors revealed that her body decomposed before her death due to suffocation.
The accident happened on Tuesday when Srishti fell into the borewell around 1 pm.

When she got trapped at some forty feet depth initially and later slid down while rescue machinery caused vibrations into the well about a hundred feet below ground level, as confirmed by Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan. A joint effort by Army personnel alongside State Disaster Emergency Response Force (SDERF)and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) tried to rescue her. Massively deployed twelve heavy vehicles aided them.

This unfortunate event reminds us about the uncovered borewells’ dangers and how urgently we must take preventive measures to ensure young children’s safety.
