NEEMUCH: As many as 3 have been arrested including a police officer in connection to the possession of narcotic drugs. Officials from the Central Bureau of Narcotics seized 30.470 kilograms of opium, 795.40 kilograms of poppy straw, and four kilograms of suspected psychotropic tablets, as well as Rs 20.68 lakhs and ten vehicles, officials said on Friday.

Acting on intel, the officials are said to have launched searches at suspected premises at Chaktiya village in Dungla tehsil of Chittorgarh district. As per inputs, it is learned that the CBN received information on the functioning of a syndicate of Chaktiya village residents involved in the illicit trafficking of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances.

In addition to illicit drugs, cash of Rs 20.68 lakhs, three high-end cars and 3 tractors, and four two-wheelers were seized. A grinding machine (used to grind poppy straw into fine powder to reduce the volume of a poppy straw), plastic polythene packets (used to pack poppy straw), stitching machines (used to stitch and pack poppy straw bags), sealing machine (used to seal small Poppy Straw powder packets), opium packing plastic containers (Dibbi), and a weighing scale were also recovered and seized.

A case under NPDS Act 1985 has been registered against the accused as the probe deepens.
