Katni, Madhya Pradesh: A bus full of people going to Shahdol to attend the program of President Draupadi Murmu crashed in MP today. The bus had left for Shahdol from Khundbal in Jabalpur. The bus overturned in the Katni district at around 10.30 am. One person died in the accident and more than 10 have been injured. The injured have been taken to the Katni district hospital and health centers in Sihora and Umaria.
There were 35 to 40 people on the bus. The bus overturned at a sudden turn near Pan Umaria in the Katni district. On the screams of the passengers, the local people first helped them. Ashu Kol (22), a resident of the village Tapa Khudaval, died in the accident. The condition of the sarpanch’s husband Rajesh Kumar Mishra (35) and secretary Ram Kishore Patel (45) is said to be critical. As soon as the information about the incident came, Katni Collector reached Primary Health Center Umaria to oversee the conditions of the injured.
Meanwhile, President Draupadi Murmu is visiting Madhya Pradesh today as part of her 2-day program. She will attend the Tribal Pride Day celebrations in Shahdol. Governor Mangubhai Patel and Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan welcomed her in Jabalpur. This is Draupadi Murmu’s first visit to MP after taking over as the President.
More than 1 lakh people are expected to attend the function going to be held in Shahdol. People are also being brought from other districts of the state, for which 2500 buses have been arranged. A huge stage has been erected at the venue of the Lalpur airstrip. A tent has been set up in 4 lakh 50 thousand square feet area. 8 big dome pandals have also been built.
The President’s speech from the venue will be telecasted live at the district level throughout Madhya Pradesh, which will be able to be seen by the common citizens of all Gram Panchayats. For security, 2500 police personnel have been deployed. Bomb squad, SPG, and police forces from other districts are also involved. About 100 gazetted officers and 20 IPS officers have reached Shahdol. 10 places have been earmarked for parking. She is expected to start her program at Shahdol at around 2 PM today.
