Dindori: At least 14 people died and 20 were injured after a pick-up vehicle overturned in Dindori, Madhya Pradesh, an official said on Thursday.
The pick-up vehicle lost control and overturned at Badjhar ghat in Dindori at around 1:30 am. The injured are currently undergoing treatment at Shahpura Community Health Centre, quoted Vikas Mishra, Dindori Collector as saying.
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has announced an ex-gratia of Rs 4 lakh which will be given to the kin of the dead.
“Dr. Mohan Yadav has expressed deep condolence over the loss of many precious lives in a vehicle accident in the Dindori district…Rs 4 lakh ex-gratia to be given to the kin of the dead. Instructions have been given to the district administration for proper treatment of the injured,” he posted on social media platform X.
“Very sad news has been received about a vehicle accident in Dindori district. In this hour of grief, our thoughts are with the bereaved families. I pray to Baba Mahakal to give peace to the departed souls and strength to the family members to bear this thunderbolt. The state government will provide financial assistance of Rs 4 lakh each to the families of the deceased. Instructions have been given to arrange for proper treatment of the injured. Cabinet Minister Smt. Sampatiya Uikey, Dindori is reaching on behalf of the state government”, wrote Dr. Mohan Yadav on X.
The victims had gone to Amhai Devri village to take part in a programme in the district’s Shahpura block and were returning when the accident took place.
Soon after getting information about the incident, Dindori collector and superintendent of police rushed to help the victims.
