Bandhavgarh: In a survey that began on April 1, 2023, archaeologists have found archaeological treasures from the Bandhavgarh National Park in Madhya Pradesh. While conducting a survey, paintings were unearthed from the past, man-made waterbodies were discovered and few evidences were seen to suggest that there was something decades back.
While noting the findings, experts were quoted saying that the tiger reserve of the present day was once most likely part of an old trade route with passing traders using rock-cut caves as shelters. The archaeologists discovered a 1500-year-old rock painting and man-made water bodies believed to 1800-2000 years old from the national park.
Last year in September, ASI tweeted about the exploration of 26 temples, 26 caves, 2 monastries, 2 votive stupas, 24 inscriptions, 46 sculptures, and other scattered remains with 19 water bodies discovered in the Bandhavgarh Forest Reserve.
Bandhavgarh national park is a national park located in Umaria district of Madhya Pradesh. An area of 105 square kilometers was declared a national park in 1968 and then became a tiger reserve in 1993. The three main zones of national park are Tala, Magdhi, and Khitauli. Tala is the richest in terms of biodiversity, mainly tigers.
