Indore: In an effort to ensure the protection and preservation of trees in the capital city, the Horticulture department in coalition with Indore Municipal corporation has launched a tree ambulance where vehicles will be installed with equipment to nurture and protect the trees.
With experts deployed from Municipal corporation first aid activities like pruning, disinfecting and treating diseased plants will be performed. The Panchavati- tree ambulance sets an example of Kabad se Jugaad implementation aptly. As per sources, the vehicle is made from dumped vehicles, mohalla carts, and run by batteries from used vehicles. The Panchavati has a 500L, 300L and 200L tank for water, disinfectants and liquid manure respectively.
So far three 3 tree ambulances have been launched by the Horticulture Dept.
The first tree ambulance in India was set up in Chennai by the Green Man of India ‘Dr Abdul Ghani’. The provides first aid service to trees, caring for those in poor condition and replanting those that have been uprooted.
