Bhopal: The extended Congress Working Committee (CWC), the highest executive forum of the party, on Saturday unanimously passed a resolution to appoint its former chief Rahul Gandhi as the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha.
A meeting of the Congress Working Committee was called in Delhi on Saturday. The meeting was chaired by National President Mallikarjun Kharge. CWC members former Chief Minister Digvijay Singh, former minister Kamleshwar Patel, MP Congress state president Jeetu Patwari and Leader of Opposition Umang Singhar also attended the meeting.
In the CWC meeting, the Congress’s defeat in Madhya Pradesh and defection were discussed. The Lok Sabha election performance and the reasons for the split were discussed. After the discussion, the CWC decided to form a committee on the defeat. The committee will be formed under the chairmanship of Congress in-charge Bhanwar Jitendra Singh.
This committee will review the states in which the performance of Congress was poor. Congress will take action based on the report of the committee. Action will be taken against the responsible party leaders and state presidents. Let us tell you that BJP has won a landslide victory in the Lok Sabha Election 2024. For the first time after independence, BJP did a clean sweep. Congress had to face defeat in all 29 Lok Sabha seats. The party also lost in Chhindwara, which is called the stronghold of Congress.
According to sources, PCC chief Jitu Patwari may resign. He may submit his resignation to Congress national president Mallikarjun Kharge. In fact, under the leadership of Jitu Patwari, the Congress party has faced defeat in all 29 Lok Sabha seats of MP.
