KHARGONE: At least 55 people, including 25 children were rushed to the hospital due to food poisoning after eating ice cream at a religious function in Madhya Pradesh’s Khargone district.

SDM Om Narayan Singh, who reached the spot, said that on the instructions of district collector Shivraj Singh Verma, samples of kulfi were being sent for examination.

The guests in a religious function at a temple in Chhatal village, 14 km from the district headquarters, Khargone’s Chief Medical and Health Officer (CMHO) Dr Daulat Singh Chauhan said ate the Matka Kulfi on Wednesday night.

2 out of the 25 children are said to be critical said the officer adding that as per information by the district hospital authorities the patients complained of colic, vomiting and upset stomach due to food poisoning.

The hospital’s Resident Medical Officer Dr Dilip Septa said 20 children and 10 other people have so far been discharged after treatment.

Villagers of Chhatalgaon, Ghatti, Badgaon, Rajpura, Nagjhiri and Balgaon villages participate in the fair.
