Guna: The third accused in the firing in Guna district last week was killed today, the police officer said. Police superintendent Rajeev Mishra said that Chotu Pathan was spotted in Guna’s Ruthiyai area before he was killed. “When a police team reached the spot to nab him, he ran into a forest. Police asked him to surrender but he started firing. He fired at least nine shots with a country-made pistol. In the firing, constable Vinod Dhakad was injured while a police vehicle was also damaged. Later, police retaliated and he [Pathan] was killed,” said Mishra.

With this, three accused of killing policemen have been killed and four others accused in connection with the killing were arrested.

The encounter took place in a forest near Haripura village at around 5:30 am, the SP added. Acting on the tip-off, the police on Monday late night in Ruthiyai searched and confronted Chhotu Pathan (30) who retaliated with his country-made pistol.

On May 14th, three policemen were killed after a group of poachers, most of them hailing from one family, opened fire on them near Saga Barkheda village.

Police earlier killed Naushad Mewati and Shehzad Mewati, the other two accused in the case, on Saturday. Four people have been arrested in the case while two are absconding. Nine have been booked so far after alleged poachers fired and allegedly killed three policemen in Guna’s Shahrok forest area on Friday.
