Bhopal: Dengue is slowly spreading in the capital Bhopal. The health department’s concern has also increased due to the spreading dengue infection. Within the last one week, 30 new dengue cases have been reported in Bhopal. With this, the number of dengue patients in the city has increased to 137. Till a week ago, the number of dengue patients here was only 107.
This is the first time in this season that so many dengue patients have been found in a single week. This figure is also considered worrying because the maximum number of dengue patients increase in August and September. Therefore, the health department has also become alert about this.
People of Bhopal are staring at a potential dengue outbreak amid ongoing constructions and incomplete infrastructure projects. According to health officials, 60 cases were reported in July and 32 have already been reported in the first week of August.
Sources said, construction sites have become breeding grounds for mosquito larvae. this lack of preparedness highlights a significant gap in the city’s approach to combat vector-borne diseases, am issue worsened by recent weather conditions being conducive to larvicide breeding.

Precautions: Ways to Avoid
- Do not allow water to collect around the house or even inside the house. If water gets filled in pots, coolers, or tyres, remove it immediately. Take special care of cleanliness during these days.
- If there is water in the cooler, then put kerosene oil in it, this reduces the chances of mosquito breeding.
- Do not leave water tanks open, keep them covered properly.
- These days, wear full sleeves and clothes that cover your legs as much as possible. Send your children out only after applying mosquito repellent cream.
