NARSINGHPUR: 3 died and 24 were injured as a bus overturned in the Narsinghpur district of Madhya Pradesh, police said. The accident took place at Linga Village on Thursday at midnight, they added.
The bud as per reports overturned after hitting the road divider. “The bus was returning from a marriage event when it hit a road divider and overturned. Three persons, identified as Karthik Gurjar (16), Pahalwan Sarathe (60), and Udairam Thakur (55), died on the spot and their bodies were sent for post-mortem,” Kareli police station in-charge inspector Akhilesh Mishra interacting with the media on the spot.
Out of the 24, 6 are said to be severely injured and critical, being treated at the district hospital. The others who suffered minor injuries have been admitted to Kareli Primary Health Centre.
Primary investigation reveals the bus driver swerved to the other lane. The driver fled from the spot said officials were involved in the probe. A case under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including rash driving, was registered against the bus driver, he said, adding that the police have launched an operation to trace him.
