New Delhi: Pharma firm Zydua Cadila has confirmed the commencement of its COVID-19 vaccine supplies to the centre. The Ahmedabad based company also plans to release the vials in the market soon. “The vaccine will be priced at Rs 265 per dose and the applicator being offered at Rs 93 per dose, excluding GST,” Zydus Cadila said.
ZyCoV-D is a three-dose vaccine administered intradermally using the painless PharmaJet needle-free system with an interval of 28 days in each dose.
The pharma firm has also entered into agreements with Shilpa Medicare Ltd, an organisation that agreed to produce agreeable doses of the vaccine, Further, it has also tied up with Enzychme Lifesciences of the Republic of Korea for manufacturing license and technology transfer for the Plasmid DNA vaccine.
ZyCoV-D which was approved for EUA is the only needle-free Coronavirus vaccine in the world. It is also the world first Plasmid DNA vaccine. The vaccine produces the spike proteins of the SARS-CoV2 virus and elicits the immune response mediated by the cellular and humoral arms of the human immune system. This mechanism plays a vital role in providing protection from the disease and viral clearance.
