New Delhi: Food delivery apps Zomato and Swiggy reported a brief nationwide outage on Wednesday coinciding with the lunch time rush when order numbers typically see a bump up. The glitch appeared to have been caused by an Amazon Web Services snag that many online platforms rely on.
Both apps were back within half an hour but not before social media were flooded with complaints from users unable to place orders or browse menus and listings. 1,025 users reported issues in accessing the site and app of Zomato whereas 734 users reported the same for Swiggy.
Customer support handles of both companies responded to the messages, saying they were working on resolving the “temporary glitch”. “Hi there, we are facing a temporary glitch. Please be assured our team is working on this and we will be up and running soon,” Zomato said on Twitter acknowledging the issue.
Swiggy responded to the user saying,” We apologize for the long delay we are currently facing due to a technical glitch. This is not usual with us and our best minds are working on it to resolve it at the earliest. Please bear with us.”
