Jyoti Malhotra, a popular YouTuber and social media personality, will go before a court in Hisar on Monday following suspicions that he was spying for Pakistan. Her trial began after her police remand of four days ended. Malhotra, aged 33, was originally held for five days. On Thursday, the court decided to extend his custody. Among the 12 people arrested in Punjab, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh are six belonging to this group, allegedly associated with Pakistan.

Until now, the police investigation has shown no indications that Malhotra was aware of military or defence secrets. Officials affirmed that the police are still awaiting evidence of her involvement in terrorism or any terrorist groups. They also said that investigators found no sign that she was trying to change her faith or marry anyone locally who was being followed.

There was proof, however, that Malhotra was in touch with individuals identified as Pakistani agents. Ehsan-ur-Rahim, alias Danish, served at the Pakistani High Commission in India. After he was suspected of spying, Danish was ordered to leave India on May 13. It is said that Malhotra first engaged with the suspect around November of that year, according to police information.

Three mobile phones and a laptop were seized from Malhotra and are now being examined by forensic experts. Investigators are checking transactions from four of her bank accounts to look for any suspicious activity related to the accusations.

Meanwhile, the case is attracting attention across the country because a popular digital content creator on Youtube is involved, and it has brought attention to the use of online platforms for espionage.
