Madhya Pradesh: A worker from Madhya Pradesh’s Dhar district, 251 kilometers south west of capital Bhopal, pedalled a bicycle for around 105 kilometers to take his child to an examination place at the district headquarters on Tuesday.

Shobharam stated, “After the lockdown limitations transports stopped. The transports are not working even at this point. There was nobody to help me at the town, thus I chose to come here on my bicycle. I left from Dhar on Sunday night itself and remained for the time being at Manawar town. I came to Mandu at 4 am on Tuesday and the exam centre at Dhar only 15 minutes before the examination was to start.”

He said he will remain in Dhar till August 24 when his child’s examinations will get over. He has brought food grains and other fundamental things to prepare dinners stuffed in a gunny pack which he carried on the bicycle.

Shobharam’s son should compose his exam under MP State Open School Board’s Ruk Jana Nahi scheme under which the students of class 10 and 12 who couldn’t pass the examinations directed by MP Board of Secondary Education are allowed to clear the test. But since the re-exam centre was picked at the district headquarters, the dad and the son needed to travel in excess of 100 kilometers.

The boy stated, “I didn’t lose my opportunity. I insisted coming to Dhar and composing the examination, yet since there is no transport service my dad said he would take me to the examination centre.”

Assistant commissioner, Tribals Welfare department in Dhar area Brijesh Chandra Pandey stated, “I came to think about the careful endeavors of both dad and child. It’s truly inspiring. Since they should remain here till August 24, we have made a plan for their housing and food and we will also make arrangements for their movement back to their village.”
