It has been a while, but the player is here finally!! Apple’s first brick and motor retail store in India that opened its doors to the public today witnessed huge queues in the Bandra Kurla Complex. The store will provide a space for customers to come together, explore Apple products and services, and buy them.

The 20,800 sq feet flagship store located at Reliance Jio World Drive Mall was inaugurated by Apple Chief Tim Cook himself. Taking to Twitter Cook expressed his excitement and posted a picture with his Mumbai team. He wrote, “Hello, Mumbai! We can’t wait to welcome our customers to the new Apple BKC (Bandra Kurla Complex) tomorrow.”

The US tech giant launched its first online store in India in 2020, however, its plans to launch physical stores soon after were stalled due to the Covid pandemic. Apple is leveraging India’s electronics market growth and has been heavily focusing on manufacturing its products in the country. At present, the tech firm has 500 retail stores across major cities in the world. India currently accounts for 3 percent of the company’s total production share, but it is expected to rise to 5 percent in the next few years.

The iPhone maker celebrates its Silver Jubilee in India. “This week, as Apple celebrates more than 25 years in India, the company is marking a major expansion with the opening of its first Apple Store locations in the country, along with new environmental initiatives and a key milestone in the rapidly growing community of Indian developers,” the company said in a statement.
