Medinipur, West Bengal: A late-night bomb blast occurred at a TMC leader’s house in West Bengal. 3 people died and two others were heavily injured in this incident. However, the bodies have not been identified yet. Apparently, this bomb blast happened before the rally of TMC general secretary and CM Mamata Banerjee’s nephew Abhishek Banerjee in Medinipur today. He is about to address a public meeting at Contai in Medinipur.
The incident took place in the Arjun Nagar area under the Bhupati Nagar police station of Purba Medinipur. There was an explosion at night at the house of TMC booth president Rajkumar Manna, who lives there. After this, the police recovered 3 dead bodies on the spot. It is also being said in some media reports that the blast took place during the making of the bomb.
A Police officer said, “The cause of the blast is yet to be ascertained and further investigation is underway but the impact was so powerful that the mud house with a thatched roof was blown off in the incident.”
After the incident came to light, the opposition was quick to target the TMC government. BJP national vice president Dilip Ghosh said that “only bomb-making industry is flourishing in the state.”
Opposition leader Suvendu Adhikary also tweed about the incident. “3 Dead & 2 others grievously injured as TMC Leader’s house blows up in explosion at Bhupatinagar, Bhagabanpur ii Block, Purba Medinipur District. TMC leader Rajkumar Manna was making bombs at his home when this high intensity explosion happened. I demand @NIA_India Investigation,” he tweeted.
He further added, “TMC Booth President Rajkumar & 2 others died last evening while urgently making the bombs, as these bombs were intended to be hurled at Contai. Bombs are WB’s most successful Cottage Industry products & are widely produced in TMC leaders’ homes across Bengal.” Further investigations are on the case.
