Manipur: On Sunday, violence erupted in Manipur, which caused five deaths including a police officer. Along with that, twelve people have been injured in this incident. There are many ethnic clashes which have taken place in Manipur. Till now, these clashes have caused 80 individuals to lose their lives. The Police officials have also caught 30 militants in the last 48 hours.
Reports of violence emerged from multiple areas in Manipur as alleged terrorists, armed with sophisticated weapons, set fire to numerous houses in the Serou and Sugunu regions. All these information came just before Amit Shah’s visit. Chief Minister N Biren Singh stated that in the past couple of days, around 40 terrorists have been neutralized by security forces.
It was also reported that the militants were having AK-47 and M-16, along with some snipers. These helped them to target the civilians of the city and carry out these destructive acts. The Chief Minister said that there’d be taking strict actions to prevent these things to take place.
Singh condemned the recent surge in violent attacks on civilians in the outskirts of Imphal valley, describing them as well-planned and deplorable. Meanwhile, Home Minister Amit Shah called upon both the Meitei and Kuki communities to maintain calm, foster peace, and work towards restoring normalcy in the region.
