Ahmedabad Plane Crash: DNA samples of 80 victims out of 275 people killed in the Ahmedabad plane crash have matched. This includes the body of former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani. Vijay Rupani’s last rites have been performed with state honors in Rajkot.
Air India’s plane crashed after taking off from Ahmedabad to London. Air India has confirmed the plane crash. There were 242 people in this plane, including 12 crew members and 230 passengers. Only one passenger survived this accident. Apart from the passengers, many doctors present at the medical college where the plane crashed died in this accident. After which the death toll increased from 241 to 275.
Vijay Rupani’s last rites will be performed with state honours in Rajkot today i.e. on Monday. Vijay Rupani’s son Rishabh Rupani expressed deep grief on this occasion in a statement to ANI and expressed condolences to all the affected families. He said, “In this hour of grief, I pay tribute to all the deceased on behalf of our Rupani family. This is a sad time not only for our family but also for 270 families.”
He said, “I pray to God to give salvation to all souls. I heartily thank all the health staff, the civil defense, police force, RSS workers. The relief and rescue work done during this time is commendable. I thank everyone including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah for their wholehearted support.”
Bodies of 33 Handed Over To Families
After the match, the bodies of 33 have been handed over to the families. This information was given by Dr. Rajneesh Patel, Additional Superintendent of Ahmedabad Civil Hospital, during a media briefing last night. Apart from this, the families of 2 more victims are expected to arrive tonight, while 13 families have to go to collect the dead bodies on Tuesday.
At present, the investigation of the wreckage of Air India flight AI-171 is going on. All eyes are on the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) of India. It is an independent investigation agency of the Ministry of Civil Aviation, separate from the DGCA. Meanwhile, Air India has now announced an interim assistance of Rs 25 lakh each to the families of all the deceased and the injured. This amount will be in addition to the assistance amount of Rs 1 crore each announced by the Tata Group for the deceased.
