New Delhi: The Nigerian President Bola Timbu is the first head of the state to arrive in Delhi for the summit. Director General of World Trade Organisation (WTO), Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala arrived at the New Delhi airport today to participate in much-awaited G20 Summit. Managing Director of IMF Kristalina Georgieva and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen too arrived in Delhi.

Prime Minister of Mauritius Pravind Kumar Jugnauth arrived in New Delhi and was received by the Union Minister of State for Tourism and Ports, Shipping, Waterways, Shripad Naik. With more than 70 per cent of the Indian-origin population in Mauritius, India shares close ties with it and this is the main reason why India remains an active first responder for the nation.

Meanwhile, Spain’s President Pedro Sanchez tested positive for COVID-19 and shall skip the G20 Summit. Spain will be represented by the Ministry of Economic Affairs and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin are the other two leaders who shall not be visiting Delhi.

Earlier on Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a key meeting with ministers after he landed in New Delhi from Jakarta concluding ASEAN Summit. PM Modi was briefed about the security arrangements and preparations that have been made ahead of the key meeting.
