India recorded 33,750 fresh infections in the past 24 hours, the Union Health Ministry reported.


The recovery rate at 98.2 per cent accounted for 10,846  recuperations in the last 24 hours taking the total recoveries to 3,42,95,407. The daily positivity rate stood at 3.84 per cent, less than 5 per cent.


The active caseload stands at 1,45,582 accounting for 0.42 per cent of the total number of cases. 22,781 active cases were reported in the last 24 hours. However, the mortality rate recorded at 1.38 per cent reported 123 fatalities, taking the cumulative death toll to 4,81,893.

Amid a surge in COVID cases in multiple Indian cities, vaccination has been now opened for the teens of age group 15 to 18 years. Those born in 2007 and before shall be eligible for the vaccine. Over 8 lakh teens have registered on government’s CoWin portal and all of them will receive a dose of Covaxin.
