Uttarakhand: Former Union Minister and a veteran BJP leader; Bachi Singh Rawat breathed his last at AIIMS Rishikesh on Sunday. The71-year-old BJP leader complained of breathlessness and was hence admitted.
He was transported to the hospital in an air ambulance from Haldwani and administered treatment in the emergency ward. His preliminary tests revealed infection in the lungs which lead to apnoea. The Medical Superintendent of AIIMS, BS Bastia confirmed the death.
Uttarakhand CM Tirath Singh expressed grief on the sudden demise of the leader and extended condolences to the family.
Bachi Singh was a four-time MLA from the Almora-Pithoragrah constituency and flagged the seats defeating former CM and Congress leader Harish Rawat consecutively. He was the Union Minister of State for Science and technology during the reign of Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Nainital MP Ajay Bhatt and a host of other BJP leaders also expressed grief.
