Uttar Pradesh: Mukhtar Ansari was sent back to jail today under judicial custody as soon as ED’s custody remand was completed in the money laundering case. The court has approved his judicial custody till January 10, 2023. The next hearing on the case will occur on that day. Along with this, the mafia-turned-politician has been ordered to be shifted to Banda Jail with full security. Mukhtar Ansari’s hearing was held in the court of ACGM 18. During the hearing, the ED produced him in court. 

Advocate Shiv Murthy Verma appeared on behalf of the ED. Government pleader Gulab Chandra Agrahari did not object to him being sent to judicial custody. The court of ACGM 18 said that the accused should be produced before the concerned court on the next hearing of the case. Earlier, the ED custody remand of Mukhtar Ansari was approved by the district judge’s court till January 28. Today, when the time limit was over, he was produced before the court.

On the other hand, on Dec 15, Ansari and his close aid Bhim Singh were sentenced to imprisonment of 10 years in relation to cases of murders and attempt to murder of 5 people by the Ghazipur court. He is logged in Banda Jail for a few years now. He was out for 10 days under ED custody for interrogation related to the money laundering case. Now, he has been sent back to Banda jail after his ED custody got over.
