Union ministers Amit Shah, Nitin Gadkari, Jyotiradha Scindia and Hardeep Puri among other leaders posted their wishes on the National Girl Child Day being celebrated on Monday.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted, “National Girl Child Day is an occasion to reiterate our commitment and further strengthen ongoing efforts to empower the girl child”.

Piyush Goyal, Minister of Commerce & Industry, Consumer Affairs & Food & Public Distribution and Textiles extended his best wishes on the day. “With skill, ambition & determination, our daughters are truly making their mark in every field”, tweeted the minister.

“Prime Minister Narendra Modi Ji changed the thinking of women’s development into the resolve of women-led development and opened the doors of opportunities”, tweeted Union Minister Amit Shah.

Union Minister for Civil Aviation, Jyotiraditya M. Scindia tweeted “On this day, we vow to bridge the gender divide that hinders women from leading a life of independence and dignity”. He later added to the thread that the occasion also coincides with the 2nd Hockey India Sub Junior Women’s Academy National Championship that is hosted in Gwalior.

Besides, the political leaders, master blaster Sachin Tendulkar tweeted on National Girl Child Day. “Let’s empower our girls & give them the wings to dream and the freedom to achieve their goals”, tweeted the cricket legend.

The Government of India had launched the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Abhiyan on January 22, 2015 to address some of the major issues related to female empowerment in the nation.
