Maharashtra: BJP MP and descendant of Shivaji Maharaj, Chhatrapati Udayanraje Bhosale met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi on Friday and raised the issue of Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari’s controversial remarks on the Maratha warrior.
Talking to the media after meeting PM Modi, Udayanraje said that on November 23, they had written letters to the President and the Prime Minister and even today official correspondence has been done. He said that a letter regarding the derogatory remarks against Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj has been sent from the President’s Secretariat to the Home Minister’s Office.
The BJP MP said the people of Maharashtra are angry over the derogatory remarks against Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, as he is a role model for all. He said that Prime Minister Modi has realized the seriousness of the matter. Udayanraje said that the Prime Minister himself had called the meeting. He had called Rajya Sabha MPs from Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Madhya Pradesh. He wanted to share some points regarding how to take the party forward.
On the Karnataka-Maharashtra border dispute, he said that when the Mahajan committee was set up, it was decided that states should be divided on the basis of language, but this has not been done. He said that the central government should hold a meeting with the top leadership of Karnataka and Maharashtra on this issue.
