Sunday revealed President Donald Trump publicly accepted the ceasefire “understanding” between India and Pakistan as a follow-up on four days of increased military encounters after the Pahalgam terror incident. Trump complimented both countries for being led by leaders who restrained the conflict and attributed results that ran further escalation to the risk of very dreadful situations, including the loss of millions of lives.

On Saturday evening, Trump tweeted from Truth Social that India and Pakistan had agreed to terminate all military activities, following discussions brokered by the United States. The Indian officials responded that the ceasefire was negotiated bilaterally between the two countries and not due to external mediation.

“I respect the strong and principled leadership expressed by India and Pakistan”, Trump said. “There is the possibility that their mutual end to the hostilities could have even averted the excess loss of thousands of innocent lives. That decision is a remarkable and historic achievement. Without prior agreement, I will bring our trade relations with India and Pakistan to a quite different level.”

According to Trump, he is ready to cooperate with India and Pakistan in order to resolve the ancient Kashmir conflict, which he used to describe as unresolved for more than a millennium. He declared U.S. readiness to support diplomatically and commended the ceasefire as a big step achievement for India and Pakistan.

A ceasefire agreed on Saturday mandated that all firing and military action be stopped from land, air, and sea, without delay. Less than an hour since the ceasefire was declared, it was broken as Pakistani drones bombed several Indian Cities. As a reaction, Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri challenged Pakistan to honour the ceasefire and treat violations with the severity and consequence they deserve.

Misri told his audience that the terms of the agreed ceasefire had been repeatedly breached within the last few hours and called on Pakistan to take appropriate measures to rebuild stability.
