Paving the way to launch the world’s biggest immunization drive against Covid-19, the Government has prepared a detailed draft for the air transportation of Covid-19 vaccines and its movement to different parts of the nation, which is likely to begin from today or tomorrow.
“For vaccine transportation across the country, a common draft has been made. It will shortly be shared with stakeholders. The transportation of vaccines is likely to begin from today or tomorrow”, revealed a government source.
The Government of India finalized the transportation of the Covid-19 vaccine and its movement to different parts of the nation adding that the passenger aircraft have been allowed to transport them. Sources also indicated that Pune will be the central hub from where the distribution of the vaccine will take place. Since Pune airport is under the Indian Air Force, they will also be a part of this event.
The center further informed that 41 destinations across the country have been finalized for the delivery of the vaccines. For northern India, Delhi and Karnal will act as the mini-hubs. For the eastern region, Kolkata and Guwahati will be the mini-hubfor distribution. Guwahati will also be a nodal point for the Northeast. Chennai and Hyderabad will be the designated points for southern India.
