Bengaluru- In a shocking incident reminiscent of a crime thriller, a Chintamani trader was arrested for attempting to murder his love rival by slitting his throat and drinking his blood. The disturbing act was captured on video, which later went viral, prompting the police to take swift action.

The suspect, Vijay, a 32-year-old trader from Mandyampet, was reportedly driven to rage by the growing closeness between his wife and Maresh, the victim in his early 30s. The assault occurred near Siddepalli Cross in Chintamani taluk on June 19, with Vijay’s cousin filming the gruesome act.

According to the police, Maresh had developed a close relationship with Vijay’s wife and frequently communicated via mobile phones. This allegedly enraged Vijay, who had warned Maresh about the consequences but to no avail.

On the day of the incident, Vijay enlisted the help of his cousin, John Babu, a BCom student. Vijay asked Babu to arrange a rental trip with Maresh, who owned a Tata Ace vehicle for transporting goods. Under the guise of showing Maresh a nearby farm, Vijay and Babu took him on a bike to a secluded location.

There, Vijay attacked Maresh with a small knife, causing a throat laceration. Shockingly, he even sucked blood from the wound while his cousin filmed the horrific scene. Afterward, the accused fled the scene, leaving Maresh injured but alive. Although Maresh chose not to file a police complaint, the video circulated widely on social media.

The police have arrested Vijay for attempted murder, and a search is underway for his cousin, Babu, who filmed the incident.
