Addressing media near the protest site Jantar Mantar in Delhi, on Sunday, Bharatiya Kisan Union Leader, Rakesh Takait announced their decision of carrying out a tractor parade in protest against the Centre’s farm laws on Independence.
According to Mr Takait, carrying out a tractor rally is not a ‘bad thing’. “Carrying out a tractor rally is not a bad thing. People of Jind (Haryana) are revolutionaries. They’ve taken the right decision of carrying out the tractor parade on August 15. I don’t know what Samyukt Kisan Morcha will decide…It will be a moment of pride to see the tractor parade with national flags mounted on them. It builds a spirit of nationalism,” he said.
He also informed the arrival of the next ‘ Jatha’ with tractors from Moradabad, Hapur and Amroha on August 14, and on August 15, to unfurl the national flag at the protest site.
The remarks come months after a similar tractor rally had led to violence between the farmers and the policemen on the streets.
The BKU leaders have been sitting in protest at the Jantar Mantar in the form of Kisan Sansad. Nearly 200 farmers gather from 11 am- 5 pm demanding the government to reform the farm laws.
It should be noted that the farmers have been protesting on different borders since November 26 last year against the three entranced farm laws.
