Lucknow: Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, the Congress General Secretary in Charge of Uttar Pradesh, announced on Friday that the party is likely to make new members in their scheduled caste wing, which will ensure social justice to the Dalits, prevent crimes against them, and protect the scholarships of the students in Dalit communities.

Gandhi announced this decision at the state party workers conference of the Scheduled Caste wing on Friday. As per a press release, “The meeting was organized after the release of the chairperson of the UP Congress Dalit unit Alok Prasad”. Prasad had been allegedly arrested in October, in the middle of the night.

Earlier on Wednesday, the Congress General Secretary Gandhi took to her Twitter handle to lash out at Yogi Adityanath Government, accusing the government of failing to control back to back crimes against women in Uttar Pradesh. “When the government’s only aim is hypocrisy and false propaganda, then the missions will fail. The BJP government’s Mission Shakti failed to reduce rising crimes against women in UP” – she tweeted.
