The anti-BJP united front will be strengthened when the Trinamool Congress (TMC) accompanies Rahul Gandhi on the last day of his Voter Adhikar Yatra in Patna today. The TMC leaders, Yusuf Pathan and Lalitesh Pati Tripathi, will take part in the rally on behalf of the party as directed by West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and senior party leader Abhishek Banerjee.
TMC MP Yusuf Pathan, speaking to the media, confirmed that he had been invited by Mamata Banerjee and Abhishek Banerjee to participate in the final leg of the yatra. We will be going on behalf of Trinamool Congress. We are being sent by CM Mamata Banerjee and Abhishek Banerjee. We will join the members of the INDIA Bloc in the rally, he said.
Lalitesh Pati Tripathi also repeated the point that the TMC delegation will present the matter of vote chori to other states. This is the most significant problem in the country. The fact of vote theft will be revealed step by step in all the states. It is our responsibility to defend democracy by raising our voice in favor of the Constitution, he said.
The Voter Adhikar Yatra (led by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi) was initiated in order to draw attention to the alleged irregularities in voter lists and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) vote tampering claims. Other leaders of the INDIA bloc have also participated in the 16-day march at different points, such as Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav, CPI(ML) General Secretary Dipankar Bhattacharya, Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi, and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin. Other chief ministers like Karnataka Siddharamaiah, Himachal Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, and Telangana Revanth Reddy have also participated in the yatra in solidarity.
It will officially come to an end today, on September 1, with a rally in Patna, starting at Gandhi Maidan and ending at the Bhim Rao Ambedkar Statue of the Ambedkar Park.
