Terrorists opened fire on a police party in Rajouri. According to reports, the incident occurred in the Dheri Khatuni area above Mandir Gala in the Kotranka police station area. Around 7:20 pm (1920 hours), 10 to 15 rounds of gunfire were heard in the area. A search operation is currently underway in the area.
“Exchange of fire took place between terrorists and SOG team in Beeranthub area, PS Kandi, Rajouri. Joint parties of Police, Army and CRPF have rushed to the spot and cordoned off the area,” IGP Jammu tweeted.
According to reports, a team from the Jammu and Kashmir Police’s Special Operations Group (SOG) opened fire. The police team was conducting a search operation in the area at the time. The firing caused a stir in the area, and additional security forces were sent to the scene. A contingent of the 43rd Rajputana Rifles, already deployed in the area, immediately took charge. Following the firing, security forces cordoned off the entire area. A search operation is underway to locate the terrorists.
