New Delhi: Ali Babar Patra, the Pakistani terrorist who surrendered before the Indian Army along the Line of Control (LOC), has revealed that he is a member of the Lashkar-e-Taiba. The 19-year-old was among two terrorists cornered by security forces in Uri. He has exposed the Pakistan Army’s role in training terrorists and facilitating infiltration bids across the LoC.
Speaking to reporters in Uri during a press conference called by the Indian Army, Ali Babar Patra said, “After joining LeT, I got Rs. 20,000 and was handed over to the ISI. My family was to be given Rs. 30,000 after I got launched in Kashmir.” “We had been told that the Indian Army committed atrocities against Muslims in Kashmir but I saw nothing of this sort. The Indian Army treated me well, I was not tortured or beaten up,” Ali Babar Patra said. He added, “Why aren’t there such tanzeems in India who send people across? I want to tell youth like me in Pakistan this jihad is wrong.” He also revealed that most of the instructors employed for the terrorist’s physical and weapons training were Pakistan Army personnel.
A resident of Dipalpur in Okara in Pakistan’s Punjab, Ali Babar Patra, was handed over to the police by the Indian Army after the press conference. Two of these terrorists, including Ali Baba Patra, managed to sneak into India but were soon engaged in gunfire by security forces. While his accomplice was killed, Ali Babar Patra surrendered before the Indian Army. The other four terrorists are believed to have turned back.
