Faridabad: A class 10 student from Delhi Public school in Greater Faridabad committed suicide sources said. The incident is reported to have taken place on February 25th, where a note was recovered from the dead body which mentioned bullying as the reason.
The boy’s mother who is also a teacher of the same school claimed the boy was harassed over his sexuality which drove him towards suicide.
Kin of the boy claimed that the boy was harassed several times and was mocked and called ‘gay’. “Not only that the boy was stripped in the school bathroom,” they said highlighting they received no response to the emails written to the school authorities.
“This school has killed me. Especially higher authorities… tell Ninna and bade papa about my sexuality and whatever happened with me. And please try to handle them… You are wonderful, strong, beautiful and amazing. Don’t care what relatives say…”—read the note.
An FIR has been registered against the school authorities under Section 302 (abetment of suicide) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Interacting with the press, the spox for Faridabad Police said, “From the complaint, the family has said that two other students passed lewd remarks against the deceased over his sexuality. When complaint was made to the school authorities, no action was taken. The boy was studying from home due to lockdown. But when physical classes started, he was subjected to bullying again.”
