A NCP Lok Sabha member, Supriya Sule, on Monday paid a visit to the family of the woman doctor in Beed district of Maharashtra who supposedly committed suicide in her hotel room in Satara on October 23. Speaking on behalf of the bereaved family, Sule gave them an assurance that they had all the support in seeking justice and they wanted a transparent investigation of the matter.

Addressing the media following the meeting, Sule urged chief minister Devendra Fadnavis who also happens to be the Home portfolio holder, not to give any clean chit to anyone until the investigation completes. She requested the establishment of Special Investigation Team (SIT) headed by a retired judge in order to make the process unbiased. The words of certain government officials are not sensitive and cannot be accepted. Sule said that this young doctor was the pride of Maharashtra and her family needed justice.

NCP MP Bajrang Sonawane and the youth wing president of the party Maheboob Shaikh accompanied Sule on her visit. She was critical about how the case was handled stating that people believe that there are efforts to cover the truth. Until the administration of justice, we will not keep quiet, she said.

Her dead doctor had allegedly left her a note that she had written on her palm, and stated that sub-inspector Gopal Badane had raped her and that software engineer Prashant Bankar had harassed her mentally. The two accused persons have since been arrested. After the outrage of the people over the incident, CM Fadnavis ordered the state Director General of police to form a Special Investigation Team headed by a lady IPS officer.

Sule has also criticized the supposed release of the records of the call details (CDR) of the victim and how the information was selectively released to the people. These type of dirty politics do not belong in Maharashtra. Mind your own business–leave the case to investigation–guilty party must be punished, as she said.
