New Delhi: The New Delhi police on Friday afternoon detained Akali Dal Chief Sukhbir Badal, Lok Sabha MP Harsimrat Kaur Badal and several other agitators amidst the Black Friday protest.
The members of the Akali Dal and several other farmers had assembled at the Gurudwara Rakab Gunj at 9:30 am today to call for the protest marking one year of the implementation of the contentious farm laws. The Agitated farmers reported that the New Delhi police had sealed its borders and restricted entry of Punjab registered vehicles. Sources also report that security personnel were deployed and regions of protests were barricaded. To prevent the entry of protestors in the city-specific roads were closed and two metro stations were shut down.
Harsimrat Kaur had resigned from the Union cabinet a year ago after the centre had enacted the contentious farm laws. Taking to Twitter she expressed anguish over the actions of the centre and tweeted- “Strongly condemn Delhi police for sealing entry points to national capital & detaining Akali Dal workers reaching Gurdwara Rakabganj Sahib. Receiving phone calls & videos telling how Police trying to foil a protest march to Parl against 3 Farm Laws. It’s an undeclared emergency.”

The Shiromani Akali Dal and Samyujt Kisan Morcha have for a year been protesting across the nation demanding a reamendment of the farm laws that were imposed by the centre. In the recent day, SKM had held a Mahapanchayt the Muzzafarnagar calling all Kisan unions to stand against the centre strongly.
