Kolkatta: In another jostle with Mamata Banerjee’s Trinamool Congress, Barrackpore MLA Shilbhadra Dutta resigned from the party on Friday. This is the third major exit within the 2 consecutive days, which brings another blow to the party leader, the Chief Minister of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee.
The resignation took place just before the Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s 2-day visit to West Bengal, in order to take a look at the BJP affairs in the state.
Shilbhadra Dutta, a two-term MLA, declared that he mailed his resignation letter to TMC chief Mamata Banerjee, mentioning speculations that he might be joining a number of party leaders who have either already joined the Central-leading party or are willing to join during the assembly elections which is likely to be held in March-April.
Dutta, in his resignation letter, wrote – “With due regards, I am tendering my resignation as a member of All India Trinamool Congress as well as from all other positions held by me in the party and its associate organizations with immediate effect.”
CM Banerjee has reportedly called for an emergency meeting. Well, as per the party sources, the meeting is held every Friday in which the CM meets party leaders in batches.
