NEW DELHI: At the virtual review meeting on Friday called by the Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya; states were advised to stay alert and be prepared by COVID-19 management. Mandaviya stressed identifying hotspots by monitoring trends of influenza-like illness (ILI) and severe acute respiratory infection (SARI) cases, ramping up testing, ensure hospital infrastructure readiness apart from staying vigilant.
The Centre and the states need to continue working in a collaborative spirit as was done during the previous surges for COVID-19 prevention and management, Mandaviya said.
Mandaviya has asked the state health ministers to conduct mock drills across health facilities across states on April 10,11th. Along with genome sequencing, Mandaviya emphasized on creating awareness about following COVID-appropriate behavior.
The review meeting was called by the union govt in view of the sudden uptick in COVID-19 cases. The national capital Delhi as per officials, reported more than 3000 cases in one week while the active tally surpassed 121 percent during the same period.
Apart from state health ministers, principal and additional chief secretaries and; NTGAI (National Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation) officials also attended the virtual meeting.
India on Friday reported over 6000 fresh cases of COVID-19.
