New Delhi: The Monsoon season this year wreaked havoc across several states causing various rain-related incidents. At least 18 including 6 children are feared to have been killed in MP, Maharashtra and Gujarat- states that reel under heavy monsoon showers.

Thousands have been evacuated and several displaced. The death toll in Maha stood at 9 while three died in MP. Two were rescued from Vasai on Wednesday after the region witnessed a landslide following heavy rainfall. Three more are suspected to have been buried under the rubble of the house that was destroyed in the Wagrapada area of Vasai.

An orange alert has been sounded in Mumbai, Thane and parts of Raigad and Palghar today as the weatherman forecast heavy rains. A wet day lies ahead for Mumbaikars as moderate-intensity rainfall is likely to continue for the next two to three over the city.

In Gujarat, at least six people died amidst the downpours till Tuesday. Meanwhile, state Disaster Management Minister Rajendra Trivedi indicated that a total of 27,896 people were evacuated from flood-affected areas and 18,225 of them remained in shelters.

Meanwhile, the National capital according to IMD will receive thunderstorms accompanied by showers. Rain in the national capital on Tuesday brought down the mercury but caused traffic snarls and waterlogging in parts of the city. According to IMD data, Delhi recorded 2 mm of rains in 24 hours till 8:30 am on Tuesday.
