Bhopal : Ahead of PM Modi’s visit to Madhya Pradesh on Monday, Shivraj Singh Chouhan government had written to the PM requesting permission to rename the Habibganj Railway Station in Bhopal after – the last Gond queen of the city -tribal queen Rani Kamlapati. The letter read- “Bhopal was ruled by Gond rulers in the 16th century and to keep intact the memory of Gond Queen Rani Kamalapati, it’s recommended to rename Habibganj railway station after Rani Kamlapati.”
Appreciating the PMs quick response on the request, MP CM SS Chouhan said, “I thank PM Modi for renaming Bhopal’s Habibganj railway station after the tribal queen, Rani Kamlapati.
She was the pride of Gond society. She was the last Hindu queen.”
As per the information given in by the state authorities, PM Modi would travel to Bhopal on the ocassion of Tribal Week in the state. He is scheduled to attend a One and a Half hour event at the Jamboree Maidan where nearly 2 lakh tribals would arrive. The inaugration of the Habibganj Railway Station also falls on his itinerary of the four hour visit. The railway station being the country’s first public private partnership-built train station is said to be built on the lines of Germany’s Heidelberg Railway station at an outlay of around Rs 450 crore. The station would offer glimpses of world heritage sites such as the Sanchi Stupa, Bhojpur temple, Bhimbetka, Birla Mandi, Tawa Dam and the Tribal Museum. Food zone, kids’ zone, entertainment and retail zone are amongst few highlights of the transport depo.
Sources, reveal the state govt has spent more than Rs 23 crores for the event, out of which Rs13 crore has been invested in setting up commute, food and lodging of the tribals, coming from 52 districts and over Rs 9 crore is for five domes, tents, decoration and publicity. .
Madhya Pradesh would be celebratinh Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas on November 15th to commemorate the contributions by Bhagwan Birsa Munda. The Union Cabinet is also speculated to attend the week long celebrations.
