Bandra, Mumbai: At least nine people were injured after a stampede incident at Bandra Terminus station in Mumbai. The incident occurred at 5.56 am on platform number 1, ahead of the departure of Bandra-Gorakhpur Express. The injured were shifted to Bhabha Hospital, where they are receiving treatment.

The stampede occurred around 2:55 a.m. as passengers waited for Train No. 22921, Bandra-Gorakhpur Express scheduled to depart at 5:10 AM. As the rain was about to arrive at the platform, two passengers tried to board the train. They both suffered injuries. Following this, the railway authorities immediately got the ambulance and shifted the injured passengers to Bhabha Hospital.

The injured have been identified as Shabhir Abdul Rehman (40), Parmeshwar Sukhdar Gupta (28), Ravindra Harihar Chuma (30), Ramsevak Ravindra Prasad Prajapati (29), Sanjay Tilakram Kangay (27), Divyanshu Yogendra Yadav (18), Mohammad Shareef Shaikh (25), Indrajith Sahani (19) and Noor Mohammad Shaikh (18).

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) said that the stampede broke out due to the festive rush ahead of Diwali.
