On Thursday morning, shortly after takeoff, a SpiceJet flight heading to Patna needed to make an emergency return to Delhi due to a technical issue. The Boeing 737 aircraft, flying as SG 497, landed safely at Indira Gandhi International Airport where the passengers were safely deboarded without any issues.
“SpiceJet flight SG 497 operating Delhi to Patna returned back to Delhi after takeoff due to a technical issue on October 23, 2025. The flight landed safely and passengers were deboarded normally,” the airline said, in an official statement.
In order to minimize passengers’ inconvenience, an alternate aircraft was sent to transport the passengers after they deboarded. While the airline did not specify how many passengers were on the flight, the airline reiterated that passenger safety was their number one priority while the replacement flight continued without any further delay.
