The chauffeur of a fast moving Mercedes car that was involved in an accident with the security team of actor Akshay Kumar has been arrested by the Mumbai Police. The act comes after a report on a case of rash and negligent driving was registered at the Juhu Police Station as indicated by a news agency.
The accident happened on Monday evening close to the Silver Beach Café in Juhu ward of Mumbai. According to the police sources, the speedy Mercedes ran over an autorickshaw, which, in turn, hit the vehicle of the security entourage of Akshay Kumar. The result of this impact resulted in a chain-reaction crash which momentarily resulted in panic in the area as the entourage car struck into the SUV of the actor.
The driver charged has been recognized as Radheshyam Rai and he was booked under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Section 281,125(A),125(B) which is reckless and dangerous driving. The accident injured two persons, although authorities assured that no one was hurt including the autorickshaw driver and the passengers.
Akshay Kumar and his wife, author and former actor Twinkle Khanna had recently made a foreign trip, and they were on their way back to Mumbai when the incident took place. The eyewitnesses and the local residents pointed out that the actor stepped out of his vehicle immediately after the accident and helped the injured. Briefly, one of the auto drivers and a passenger were trapped under the security vehicle and were assisted out after immediate response.
It was also reported that Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, a spiritual leader and the founder of Art of Living was present at an event close to the accident site and this led to a preexisting crowd and media. One of the eyewitnesses said the scene was terrifying, although he was glad no one had been killed.
