Amritsar: Almost a month since the chase for Waris Punjab De chief Amritpal Singh continues, the security inside the premises of the Darbar Sahib in Amritsar has been tightened today. The senior police, parliamentary and RPF jawans are on high alert and on-site. Speculations are high that Amritpal Singh might surrender today at Shri Akal Takht Sahib.
Meanwhile, rumours are also rife that a fugitive radical leader could be hiding in Rajasthan. The Police has also started an intense search operation in the Hanumangarh district and nearby areas to nab him. Alerts have been sounded in Sriganganagar, Bikaner, Jaisalmer, and Barmer.
Earlier, Amritpal Singh had called a Sarbat Khalsa on the occasion of Baisakhi which is a big assembly of people to talk about ongoing issues of Punjab. Jathedar had refused the proposal and said that peaceful celebrations of Baisakhi shall continue in Darbar Sahib for three days.
Amritpal Singh who is believed to be inspired from Jarnail Singh Bhindrawale, an Indian militant who was a leading figure of Khalistan movement in India. He was the fourteenth Jathedar of the Damdami Taksal, and an advocate of Anandpursahib Resolution.
